About

How We Work

Modern Desires is not a traditional online retailer. We work with prominent design retailers on commission and half of our profit (about 3% of the purchase price) is donated directly to a number of design charities and institutions. You don't pay more, but your purchases do more.

Who We Give To: We've chosen three charties which are committed to using design as a means to solve a number of modern social problems.

Architecture for Humanity

"Architecture for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that seeks architectural solutions to humanitarian crisis and brings design services to communities in need. We believe that where resources and expertise are scarce, innovative, sustainable and collaborative design can make a difference."

ADPSR

"Architects / Designers / Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR) works for peace, environmental protection, ecological building, social justice, and the development of healthy communities. We believe that design practitioners have a significant role to play in the well-being of our communities."

Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum

The Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum is the only Museum in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. The Museum presents compelling perspectives on the impact of design on daily life through active educational and curatorial programming.
